Welcome to The Abbey! My name is Brother Martin. I am the doorkeeper. This site offers resources to help you learn more about moral theology and the Catholic faith.
Mouse over a room in the Abbey and I'll tell you what you can find there!
In the Library you can read full-text articles on the principles of moral theology and on specific moral issues. You can also find reading lists of books, online lectures, and other resrouces.
In the classroom you can find study guides and commentaries that can help you study important Church documents. You can also explore interactive diagrams and concept maps that show concepts of moral theology in quickly and simply. Eventually you will also be able to listen to online lectures.
Brother Thomas' Study is where you will find Gaudium Veritatis, the Abbey's blog. The blog examines current issues in light of the Catholic moral intellectual tradition. You can also read about the Dear Brother Thomas textbook and curriculum in moral theology, which will be available for sale in the Fall of 2008.
The workrooms are a sort of art studio for the brothers of the Abbey. Here you can find interactive artwork that will teach you about biblical and catechetical concepts as you explore the art. Right now the workrooms are empty, but check back in the fall of 2009!
The office is the business center of the Abbey. Go here to read about our apostolate and history, to sign up for our monthly eNewsletter, or to make a donation to help us in our work.
The Chapel will be a place to learn to pray the Reflective Rosary (inspired by John Paul II's apostolic letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae), to pray the Angelus, or to celebrate the litrugical seasons. The chapel is still under construction.
The Abbey's bookstore is filled with carefully reviewed books, audio presentations, music, educational resources, and gift items. We have gift idea lists to help you find just the right gift. Find great Catholic materials along with quality intellectual works and literature. We carry new and used books. Check out the bargain bin for great deals!
From the cafeteria you can go to reputable Catholic online forums. Read a review of each forum and choose which ones you want to join. You can also find the Abbey's own Google Group for seminar students. Sip some coffee and join the covernsation!
The Hall of Heroes contains brief biographical sketches of saints who have lived the moral life heroically or who have contributed to the Catholic intellectual tradition.
In the Amphitheater you can read about the parish presentations offered by Jeff Arrowood, read our speaker policies and find pricing, and find out how to have Jeff Arrowood teach in your parish! See sample slideshows to preview each talk.
