Private Conscience Makes Morality Off Limits in Public Discourse

Are decisions of conscience private moral choices upon which nobody else should tread? Our culture seems to think so. However, the moral conscience always develops in the context of community as we seek objective moral truth together. The fact that our local newspaper editors won’t comment on moral choices, but will endorse a presidential candidate, shows that they do not understand the true nature of conscience. Continue reading
