New Online Resource Empowers Catholic Parents to Reclaim their Roles as Primary Educators
From Jeff
Teaching the Way of Love Continues to Grow
For the past couple months, I have been telling you about the new DVD home study program for parents that I have been working on with Alice Heinzen. The program, called Embrace Parenthood, is the first in a 3-part series called Teaching the Way of Love. Response to this program is growing steadily around the nation. As a Catholic educator, I am very edified to see the awesome response – not just because of my involvement in the project but also because it means that parents are becoming more interested in learning how to embrace their role as primary educators.
If you haven’t ordered your home study, please go here to order one now!
In true From the Abbey fashion, we are not interested in just selling a product. We really want to engage customers in an ongoing educational experience to help you truly learn your faith in a way that transforms you life. To that end, Alice and I have created a website full of free parenting resources that complement and supplement the home study course.
You can get to the website here.
Catholic Learning Plan Update
From Jeff
Early Bird Offer Has Expired
Well, the early bird offer for the Catholic Learning Plan online Catholic education system has expired. Those of you who took advantage of it will enjoy some special treatment from me, especially the opportunity to be a perpetual beta tester for new products and membership levels. I want to thank you for your response!
If you didn’t sign up during the early bird period, you’ll still get a lot for signing up now. You start out with a free video series that offers an overview of Catholic adult learning, the obstacles in the way of learning about and growing in your faith as an adult, and what needs to be done to overcome those obstacles. Then you’ll be invited to join the first membership level, called “Community Education.” This level covers salvation history and the spiritual path in ways that are at the same time deep, easy to understand, and very practical. And this first membership level is absolutely free, at least for now! I may decide to charge for this level eventually because these courses are so valuable. But for now it is still free!
Register for the Catholic Learning Plan Here
Good news! I have finally been able to set up a video studio of sorts. This means a number of things for the Catholic Learning Plan.
- Consistent sound quality – yes, I have finally overcome the learning curve on sound production!
- I can more easily shoot the videos whenever I can grab some quiet time (oh yeah, I’m a work-at-home father with a 4-year-old and a 5-year-old at home, so quiet recording time is a premium)
- Better lighting and therefore better picture quality
So we’re in business! Video production time should be cut down considerably.
By next month I hope to have some real progress to report!

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and everything. However think about if you added some great images or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and clips, this blog could certainly be one of the greatest in its field. Wonderful blog!

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

You’re making the same mistake just about everyone else here is making. The author did not say ‘pink does not exist’ he said ‘pink LIGHT does not exist. He is talking about the spectrum from ultra violet to infra red. Not about the color wheel; yellow, blue, and red.cheap diablo 3 gold

I’m attempting to locate a company that does free criminal background checks. Do you know of a website that offers this? So far, all I have found is paid services. But really, even the ones that aren’t free are quite cheap but I am on a mission to find one for free. I’ve heard that there are a couple websites that do them for free.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
